Signatures of S - wave bound - state formation in finite volume

چکیده
We discuss formation of an S-wave bound state in finite volume on the basis of Lüscher’s phaseshift formula. It is found that although a bound-state pole condition is fulfilled only in the infinite volume limit, its modification by the finite size corrections is exponentially suppressed by the spatial extent L in a finite box L. We also confirm that the appearance of the S-wave bound state is accompanied by an abrupt sign change of the S-wave scattering length even in finite volume through numerical simulations. This distinctive behavior may help us to distinguish the loosely bound state from the lowest energy level of the scattering state in finite volume simulations.

Identification of shallow two-body bound states in finite volume
We discuss signatures of bound-state formation in finite volume via the Lüscher finite size method. Assuming that the phase-shift formula in this method inherits all aspects of the quantum scattering theory, we may expect that the bound-state formation induces the sign of the scattering length to be changed. If it were true, this fact provides us a distinctive identification of a shallow bound ...
متن کاملBound state spectrum in the finite volume
The signature of bound state formation on the lattice is of particular interest in this talk. In the finite volume, where all states have discrete energies, it is rather hard to distinguish between a bound state and a scattering state if the bound state were close to threshold, i.e. like a “loosely bound state”. To study bound states in the finite volume, we calculate the positronium spectrosco...

Studying the production or decay processes of heavy quarkonia (the bound state of heavy quark-antiquark) is a powerful tool to test our understanding of strong interaction dynamics and QCD theory. Fragmentation is the dominant production mechanism for heavy quarkonia with large transverse momentum. The fragmentation refers to the production process of a parton with high transverse momentum whic...

متن کاملSearch for the Charmonium Dissociation Temperature with Variational Analysis in Lattice QCD
Charmonium dissociation temperatures are studied in a quenched anisotropic lattice QCD with standard plaquette gauge action and O(a) improved Wilson fermion action. Simulations are carried out at temperatures in the range 0.88 Tc to 2.3 Tc. From the meson correlators, we first subtract the contribution of constant mode, which was reported to mislead the analysis of, in particular, P wave signal...
